Bhishi Meaning
Bhishi (भिशी) — also known as Kameti, Committee or Chit in different parts of India — is a community-driven savings scheme. A group of friends, family members, neighbours or colleagues contribute a fixed amount every month into a common pool. Each month, one member receives the entire pool.
How Does a Bhishi Work?
- A group of members (e.g. 20 people) decide on a monthly contribution (e.g. ₹2,000).
- Every month, each member contributes their share.
- One member receives the total pool that month — chosen by lucky draw or bidding.
- The cycle continues until every member has received the pool once.
Bhishi vs Chit Fund vs Bachat Gat
The core idea is similar across all three — pooled monthly savings. Chit Funds are typically larger and use a bidding system, while Bachat Gats are community savings groups (often Mahila Bachat Gats) that also lend money internally.
How to Manage Bhishi Online
Traditionally Bhishi was tracked in paper registers — which often led to confusion, lost records, and missed payments. With Bhishi Boss, the leading Bhishi management app, you can:
